On July 1, 2017 at approximately 4:20 a.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a motor vehicle in the parking lot of St. Johns Evangelist Catholic Church in the Town of Arthur. Officers stopped a male operating a 2008 Nissan and spoke with the driver.
While speaking with the driver the officer observed signs of drug use and alcohol consumption. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
23-year-old Justin Dougherty of Arthur has been charged with Over 80 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Possession of Marihuana contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. His driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on August 1, 2017 to answer to the charges.
