Those snow banks across the city are high and slippery, so the city of London is asking residents to place garbage and recyclables on the ground for pick up.
Recycling collector Brian Evans says his job is made worse when recycling bins make their way up on top of a snow bank.
"Sometimes it comes crashing down on you and it's not a good thing," says Evans.
The city is asking homeowners to use common sense when putting out their garbage and recycling, so everyone's safety is considered.
"From a health and safety perspective, it's key our workers not climb on top of snow banks," says Jay Stanford, director of environmental programs and solid waste for the City of London.
"We are asking residents to take the extra time to make sure it's placed on the ground, in the mouth of the driveway or if they are able to notch a spot into the snowbank."
That's exactly what Londoner David Russel Smith does.
"We shovel a little shelf for it to make sure it's nice and good in there so it is not going to fall off," says Smith.
That also helps prevent the bins from sliding into the road or spilling all over the place.
Collectors can choose to not empty the bin if it is in an inconvenient or dangerous spot.
If that happens, you can call the city and workers will come back and pick up at a later time, but of course you have to move it off the snowbank yourself and place it somewhere safer.
