Special weather statement in effect for the region

"A low pressure system arrives as we head into Tuesday, the greatest chance for thunderstorms will come in the afternoon and the main threats will be heavy downpours. There's lots of moisture to work with, this air mass is quite warm and that warm air can hold a lot of moisture," said CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison.
The heavy rain and slow-moving thunderstorms could result in upwards of 60mm of rain accumulating in some areas.
The City of London has also said that all grass soccer fields, baseball diamonds and cricket pitches are closed for the rest of the day Thursday.
The special weather statement covers London-Middlesex, Huron-Perth and Bruce County.
