TORONTO - Ontario's Progressive Conservatives say they repent using the phrase "train wreck" in a news release criticizing the Liberal government Wednesday morning.
Tory Leader Tim Hudak's staff say they "regret the appearance of insensitivity" towards the deadly collision of a Via Rail train and a bus in Ottawa.
The release referred to the Liberals' plan for a subway extension in Toronto as a "train wreck."
Hudak's staff says the release was sent for automatic delivery before the crash, which happened in a Conservative riding in Ottawa's west end.
They say they wanted to extend their sincerest condolences to the victims' families and friends.
Police have confirmed that at least six people are dead and dozens are in hospital, including 11 in critical condition.
