TORONTO -- The governing Liberals and the opposition parties are accusing each other of playing political games with an important piece of legislation that could save lives.
The Liberals say the opposition is delaying a bill that would ban people under the age of 18 from using tanning beds, while the NDP and Tories say the government is playing procedural football rather than having a straight up vote.
The legislation was introduced in March to protect youths from skin cancer.
The minority Liberals say gridlock in the legislature is delaying the bill and they'll introduce a motion that would ensure it's passed by the end of the month.
But the opposition parties say it's completely unnecessary because they were going to vote for the bill all along.
Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak says it's sad the Liberals dragged out cancer patients at a news conference today to play their political games.
