General Dynamics Land Systems is slashing 67 salaried and contract positions because of a lower volume of production, a spokesperson says.
“We very much regret doing this and we know it's very difficult for the people involved,” said Ken Yamashita on Thursday.
He said the company is hoping for a turnaround soon, as it seeks other opportunities.
“We are aggressively going after other opportunities. We know there's a demand for our product and we are optimistic that we'll be able to return the volume.”
They even believe there may be job creation in the future.
General Dynamics employs about 2,200 so the layoffs represent about three percent of the workforce.
