Heavy fog contributed to serious three vehicle crash in Oxford County Monday morning
One person remains in hospital with serious injuries after a three-vehicle crash in heavy fog north of Ingersoll on Monday morning.
Provincial police say it happened around 8:30 a.m. at Road 84 and 37th Line in Zorra Township. The crash involved a transport truck, a fuel tanker, and a pickup truck.
The pickup truck took heavy damage, with debris from the crash scattered about the rural intersection.
37th Line was closed at Road 88 and Wallace Street. Road 84 was closed between 41st Line and 37th Line for several hours to facilitate the investigation. Roads have since reopened.
Oxford OPP Const. Randi Crawford says the pickup driver was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but his condition has since improved.
“They’re still investigating at this point. We have however received very good news that driver that was taken to hospital with at first [what was deemed to be] life-threatening-injuries has been downgraded to serious, but non-life-threatening injuries,” said Const. Crawford.
Const. Crawford says investigators are still looking into the circumstances of the crash.
“They’ll look at speed of the vehicles, direction of the vehicles, they’ll look at the debris that’s on the ground to see if that can give them some clue as to what happened here today,” said Const. Crawford.
