Councillor Susan Stevenson will try to make the jump into federal politics.

Representing Ward 4 at city hall since November 2022, Stevenson is seeking the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) nomination in the new federal riding of London Centre.

She tells CTV News, “I could have a bigger impact and ensure accountability in a way that Londoners both need and deserve. Many people have grave concerns regarding the future, finances, freedom, and public safety. I am ready to serve in a bigger way.”

“I am in total agreement with the many changes that the conservative federal party is promoting,” Stevenson adds.

She graduated from Western University with a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics and was a professional accountant from 1995 until 2020.

Since being elected to city council, the Integrity Commissioner has on two separate occasions ruled that her social media posts about homelessness violated the Council Code of Conduct.

On December 17, council will consider the Integrity Commissioner’s recommendation that Stevenson’s pay be suspended for 30 days because of the second breach of the code.

In addition, the Ontario Ombudsman determined she violated open-meeting rules along with two other councillors by visiting a homeless shelter together prior to casting a vote about additional funding in 2023.

The current federal riding of London-North-Centre has been represented by Liberal M.P. Peter Fragiskatos since 2015.

Stevenson concludes, “Some of the most controversial and destructive policies that have resulted in the sad state of affairs that we find ourselves in today only happened because of funding from the current federal government, the same government that is imploding as we speak!”
