Light flurries continuing into afternoon, bitter wind chill

Bitter temperatures, wind, and some light flurries projected through your Thursday afternoon, but the effects of lake effect snow are winding down.

Don’t get used to the break in the weather though, “Our next snow producing system comes in Friday afternoon,” warned CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison. “[We’re expecting] generally snowfall amounts from about two to four centimeters.”

Currently, it’s about -7 C, with windchill feeling like -15 C.

Although temperatures are set to ease slightly, there is a solid chance that heading into the weekend those flurries will continue.

“Still some flurries around Saturday morning as well and into Saturday afternoon,” said Atchison. “This forecast model showing snowfall amounts a bit higher as the system comes in in London anywhere from about two to six centimeters expected and you can see those numbers coming up just a bit into parts of Huron and Perth County.”

Thursday: Flurries ending early afternoon then mainly cloudy with a chance of flurries. A risk of snow squalls and freezing drizzle in the afternoon. Winds up to 15 km/h with a high of -5 C. Wind chill feeling like -15 C in the morning, improving in the afternoon to -7 C.

Thursday night: Mainly cloudy, clearing in the late evening. Wind up to 15 km/h. Low -13 C with the wind chill nearing -17 C.

Friday: Mainly cloudy. Periods of snow beginning in the afternoon. Wind southwest 20 km/h. High -5 C, wind chill -17 C in the morning. The wind chill will improve to -11 C in the afternoon.

Friday night: Periods of snow. Low -6 C.

Saturday: Flurries. High -2 C.
