A 31-year-old Woodstock man has been charged after police were notified about a possible explosive device.

Officers were called to an area of Conestoga Road Friday regarding a possible bomb inside a home.

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Special Response Unit were also called in to help.

Residents were evacuated from the area as a precaution.

Police located a suspicious item that was detonated.

It turned out to be non-explosive in nature.

Michael Ketchabaw has been charged with mischief and theft under $5000.
