A woman has died and three people are in hospital after a two-car collision near Caledonia.

Haldimand County OPP officers are investigating the fatal crash that took place at Highway 6, south of Fifth Line on Thursday around 8:45 a.m.

Police say a Saturn was travelling northbound on Highway 6 when it collided with a southbound Ford Focus.

The three occupants from the Saturn were all taken to West Haldimand General Hospital with unknown injuries.

The female driver of the Ford Focus was pronounced dead at the scene by the attending coroner.

OPP traffic collision investigators are assisting with the investigation.

Highway 6 between Fourth and Fifth Line is expected to be closed for several hours for the investigation.
