A Port Elgin woman has been charged after allegedly backing into a parked vehicle while trying to get out of a snow bank.

Grey County OPP were called to a home on the 16th Sideroad west of Meaford just before 7 p.m. on Monday for a report of a collision.

Police say a woman driving a Ford pickup repeatedly backed into the caller's parked vehicle while trying to get the truck out of a snow bank.

Despite the caller demanding the driver stop, police say the suspect managed to extricate her vehicle and left the scene.

While investigating the crash, police got another call about an intoxicated woman who went to a residence on the 12th Line for help, as the Ford pickup she was driving was missing a front tire.

Police responded and believing she had been drinking, transported her to the Meaford OPP detachment for breath tests.

As a result, 33-year-old Marcie Aileen Roote has been charged with impaired driving, driving with over 80 mgs alcohol and driving while under suspension.

Neither the driver nor her passenger; a four-month-old baby, were injured.

Roote is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound in April.
