'One-of-a-kind' fire-breathing dragon sculpture takes over Winnipeg yard

Snow dragon that breathes fire A snow sculpture of a dragon that breathes fires has popped up in front of a Winnipeg home.

A Winnipeg sculptor’s latest creation could also double as a house guard.

Leigh Keast, who lives on Aberdeen Avenue, has created a dragon made of snow and ice on his front lawn that is capable of shooting fire.

“It’s one-of-a-kind, I believe,” the sculptor told CTV News Winnipeg.

Keast said the idea of a fire-breathing dragon came to him one day, and he decided to sculpt it.

“It took a little bit longer than normal, really, because I didn't really have any fresh snow,” he said. “Once the snow becomes crusty, you can't really use it.”

A line runs through the sculpture and is connected to a propane tank, allowing fire to come from the dragon’s mouth.

It joins a motorcycle and a race car Keast sculpted earlier this year.

“When they're done, they usually look pretty cool, and I like to see people's reaction,” Keast said.

So far, people have been excited to see Keast’s sculptures.

Next year will be his 10th year of sculpting, but no ideas have emerged yet. His past sculptures include The Grinch, Looney Tunes characters and COVID-19.
