A London man was shot and killed in Windsor on Dec. 23 after police received reports of gunshots at 187 Oak Street.

It's been learned the deceased was facing criminal charges in connection with a drive-by shooting on Howard Avenue back in September

CTV News has learned 30 year old Alekesji Guzhavin is the man who was fatally shot the night of Dec. 23.

Dia Hanan, 32, remains behind bars while investigators continue to piece together the puzzle that surrounds Windsor's latest homicide.

A funeral was held for Guzhavin in London today.

The second alleged victim, 35-year old Gregory Henriquez, suffered several gunshot wounds and remains in serious but stable condition according to officials with Windsor Regional Hospital.

On Wednesday, police wouldn't comment on the investigation but various media reports suggest the three involved were known to each other, and police.

In November 1998, Hanan 's older teenage brother died after being stabbed during a fight at glengarry park.

A then much younger Hanan spoke to reporters about the ordeal.

Then in June 2009, CTV reported a 25-year-old Dia Hanan was facing a separate attempted murder charge after a parking lot shooting at Tuscarora Street and Dufferin Avenue.

CTV News spoke with Hanan's lawyer today, who did not know the outcome of the 2009 charges.

Back in September, Guzhavin, was the same person charged in the drive-by shooting that was caught on tape near Howard Avenue and Erie Street on Sept. 9.

The Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit would not confirm that today.

London police confirmed to CTV News that Guzhavin was known to them.

In September 2013, Guzhavin was arrested and charged with a long list of firearms and drug related offenses including careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, pointing a firearm, possessing a loaded regulated firearm and failing to comply with a judicial release.

Hanan's defense lawyer Michael O'Hearn says his client is expected to appear in court again Thursday morning.
