An incident of vandalism to a wind turbine under construction is just the latest in a string of incidents, according to Huron County OPP.

Police are investigating after a turbine on Cransford Line in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh was damaged over the weekend.

The damage is believed to have occurred between 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Monday, after someone forced entry into a locked control room at the base of a wind turbine.

Officials say the suspect(s) caused extensive damage to the main circuit board. The dollar value of the damage is believed to be in the tens of thousands of dollars.

OPP say numerous similar incidents of mischiefs are taking place late at night or during the early morning hours.
