A number of services provided by the City of London's inside workers remain open, but some are running with reduced hours and still others are completely shut down.

Below is a complete list of what's available and what's not, as well as the hours of service, provided by the City of London. Anyone who requires additional information can call 519-661-4500.

Adult Sports Leagues - Open:

All programs and activities as scheduled.

Advisory Committees - Partially Opened:

Only the London Advisory Committee on Heritage and the Accessibility Advisory Committee will meet when required to do so to meet legislation.

Animals - Open:

Dead Animals - Please call dispatch at 519-661-4965 (Staffed Line). Usually picked up in 48 hours.

Live Animals - Please call LACC at 519-685-1330.

Animal Licensing - Open:

Renewals of cat and dog licensing will continue to be provided subject to staff availability. New licenses and renewals are purchased from LACC at 121 Pine Valley Blvd. The City Clerk's Office only processes renewals.

Arenas - Ice Pads - Open:

All operations and programming at arenas continue as scheduled.

Raffle, Bingo, Nevada Lottery Licenses - Open:

Raffle, Bingo and Nevada Lottery Licensing will continue to be provided - 3rd Floor, City Clerk's Office.

Building Permits and Applications - Open with Reduced Hours:

Open 9am to Noon, Subject to Change

Acceptance of building permit applications, pool fence applications, and minor variance applications only. Sign permit applications will not be accepted. Only cheques will be accepted as form of payment, made payable to the City of London.

Review of building permit applications will continue, but with delays.

  • All e-permitting services will be suspended.
  • 3 day permit application requests will not be accepted.
  • Building inspections will continue to occur but with delays.
  • The IVR phone system for booking inspections will be suspended. Please email dcs@london.ca with the subject line "building inspection request" and the necessary details in the body of the email.

Bulk Water Cards:

Bulk water cards can be topped up at 663 Bathurst Street, 1st Floor. Only cash or cheque will be accepted as payment.

Burial Permits - Open:

Burial permits will be issued, as required.

Business Licensing (Taxi, Business and Residential Rental Unit Licensing) - Closed:

Business Licensing will be discontinued and there will not be inspections for any type of pending licensing applications. Taxi enforcement will continue.

By-Law Enforcement:

No by-law enforcement available except receiving complaints for emergency inspections only for unsafe conditions.

  • Swimming pool fence complaints and lawyer's letter requests will be accepted via email to dcs@london.ca;
  • Ponding, open excavations and stagnant pool complaints will be accepted via email to dcs@london.ca

Child Care - Open at Reduced Service Level:

  • The office located on the 4th floor of Market Tower (151 Dundas Street) will be open for limited hours (from 10am to 2pm).
  • Applications for child care fee subsidy can continue to be dropped off, mailed or submitted electronically.
  • Emergency applications only will be processed. Emergencies include children at risk, families exiting the Ontario Works program for employment or to attend education; and current fee subsidy clients with model of care change.
  • Clients who already receive child care fee subsidy should continue to advise changes in circumstances (mail or drop box).

  • Fee subsidy invoices, regular monthly grant payments, wage enhancement grant applications will continue to be processed.

Civic Garden Centre - Open:

Open: OMB and ARB hearings have not been cancelled by the City (each board will have to determine if a hearing will be held).

Court House (Municipal - POA) - Open:

Provincial Offences Court sessions continue at 824 Dundas Street (8:30am until the courts are completed).

Provincial Offences Court administration office at 824 Dundas Street will be open from 8:30 am to noon only for the filing of court documents.

Discretionary Benefits:

Items that will be covered are: funerals, utility disconnections and medical emergencies that threaten the health and safety of the individual.

Emergency applications only will be completed.

Emergency Services - Open:

Emergency services including Police, Fire and Ambulance are not affected and will continue as usual.

Finance - Open From 8:30am to 4:30pm:

  • Accounts payable cheque runs will be reduced to once a week and will be processed centrally.  Only payments required for legislative or legal purposes will be made during the first two weeks.
  • Payments related to construction payment certificates will continue to be paid; expect delays in payment of up to two weeks.

The Housing Access Centre at 379 Dundas Street will be closed and phones will not be answered.  Rent Geared to Income Assisted Housing applications will not be accepted in-person at this location.  Applications and changes in circumstances can be mailed to City Hall or dropped off at the Ontario Works office, 2nd Floor Market Tower (151 Dundas Street).

Human Resources and Corporate Services - Open:

All services will continue to be offered.

Building permit inspections will be conducted with limited resources. Parking Enforcement Payment Office - Closed but payments still due

The Parking Enforcement Office at 824 Dundas Street will be closed to the public; however, parking tickets must still be paid.

Options for payment include online, mail the payment to the Parking Enforcement Office, or place payment in the drop box in the front of the building at 824 Dundas St.

Parking Enforcement first attendance reviews will not be scheduled.

Tax Payment Office - Closed:

The counter at the 4th Floor, City Hall tax office will be closed and no in-person tax payments will be accepted.

Taxes must still be paid and the options for payment are:

  • make payment through your financial institution
  • place cheque and payment stub in a sealed envelope in the drop box on west side of City Hall

Tax refunds and vacancy and charity rebates will not be provided.

Taxi Enforcement:

Taxi Enforcement will continue. Any illegal or bandit cabs in violation of various provincial legislation are subject to legal action and investigation by London Police Services.  

Tourism London - Open:

  • Downtown Information Centre will be open 7 days a week; 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday.
  • Administrative Offices will stay open from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday.

Wellington Road Tourist Information Centre will be closed.
