A Sunday evening house fire in downtown Strathroy kept crews busy for several hours.

Firefighters from both Strathroy and Mt. Brydges were called in to battle the blaze on the second floor of a duplex at 76 Caradoc St. S., just south of Front Street.

Fire officials say no one was home at the time of the fire and the blaze was confined to the upper unit.

The middle-aged woman who lived in the apartment is reportedly receiving assistance from family and friends in the community.

No details have been released on the cause of the fire, but officials say it is not believed to be suspicious.

It's unclear how much damage was caused to the semi-detached home by the blaze.
