A proposed increase to the tax bill for Londoners could also mean a seven per cent increase for some city services this year.

Council members met Thursday night as they continue to tackle the budget.

An increase is proposed for water rates of about $24 more, $29 for sewer.

That combined with a $72 proposed increase in taxes to the average London home, that means $125 more being paid to city hall this year, over last year.

The increase was not welcomed by some councillors, including Phil Squire and Michael Van Holst.

The increase in taxes for Londoners proposed so far is 2.9 percent.
