Provincial Police say one person is dead and three others are injured following a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 401 near Woodstock.

Police say the initial collision occurred in the westbound lanes of the 401 right infront of the en-route service centre near Woodstock.

Multiple vehicles were involved in that collision which lead to a secondary collision in the eastbound lanes where one person was struck and killed.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and has been identified as Terry Childs, 55, of Kitchener.

Police are investigating how that person came to be in the eastbound lanes, but the two collisions are said to be related.

All other parties were transported to hospital by EMS with minor injuries.

As a result, the 401 was closed eastbound at Folden's Line and westbound at Sweaburg Road.

It re-opened in both directions shortly before 1 p.m. Friday.

Police are asking witnesses to come forward and call Oxford County OPP immediately at 1-888-310-1122.
