Homicide victim identified as 36-year-old man from Langley, B.C.

Homicide investigators are identifying the victim of a suspected murder last year in Langley, B.C.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says 36-year-old Langley resident Michael Kashani was found dead on Sept. 22, 2023.

Firefighters were called to Nicomekl Park on 208th Street for a reported bush fire and discovered Kashani's remains.

Investigators determined the death was suspicious and IHIT took conduct of the investigation.

In a statement Tuesday, the homicide team identified Kashani as the victim and said the investigation is ongoing.

Kashani's death "has left a void in his family and community," Sgt. Freda Fong said in the statement.

"We believe someone out there may have information about Mr. Kashani's death and we are interested in speaking with them," Fong added.
