Two men were sent to hospital after a serious crash in Goderich.

Huron County OPP officers cleared the scene Thursday morning  after the single-vehicle collision that took place just before 11:30 p.m.

Emergency crews were called to Bayfield Road between Bennett Street East and Blake Street East.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel located a completely destroyed Chrysler Sebring and two injured males.  The driver of the vehicle managed to free himself from the wreck however his passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Police say the vehicle was travelling northbound on Bayfield Road when the driver lost control of his vehicle and struck a hydro pole located on the east side of the road.

The out of control vehicle then continued northbound off the roadway whereupon it struck the raised portion of a driveway.  The vehicle went airborne and came to rest landing on its roof on the front lawn of a Bayfield Road residence.

The 22-year-old male driver from Central Huron remains in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

His passenger, 24, from Goderich also remains in hospital.  His injuries are considered serious but non-life threatening.

OPP traffic collision investigators and forensic services attended the crash scene.

The crash remains under investigation; however police say excessive speed and alcohol are believed to be factors.
