Police have identified the two people killed in a crash east of St. Marys on Thursday involving a car and a transport truck.

The two people in the car who died were Anthony Bogoslowski, 79, of London,  the driver of the car, and Audrey White, 78, a passenger, also of London.

Investigators say a northbound car was trying to cross Highway 7 from Oxford Road 119 to Perth Road 18 when it was struck by a westbound truck.

Bogoslowski and White were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the truck was not injured.

The investigation continues.

The deaths come during a week when OPP are holding campaigns to promote safe driving.

In Perth County,  it's a stop-and-go campaign, while in Middlesex, the OPP are urging motorists not to become distracted while driving.

"There's the distraction of other people in the vehicle. Then there's the distraction of electronic communications.  There's other things in the vehicle that they're fussing with when in actuality all their attention has to be focused on the road in front of them and beside them at all times," said OPP Sgt. Dave Rektor.
