Two people suffered minor injuries after a house fire in Wiarton on Wednesday evening.

Emergency crews responded to a home on Dawson Street around 7 p.m. and found the residence engulfed in flames.

A male and a female were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Fire crews were able to contain the blaze to the home, with minimal heat damage to nearby houses.

No damage estimate had yet been released.

Ontario's Office of the Fire Marshal has been called in to assist with the investigation into the cause of the fire, which has yet to be determined.
