Two drivers were sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a head-on crash in Norfolk County.

Norfolk County OPP officers are investigating the two-vehicle crash that took place at Norfolk County Road 23 in Houghton around 7:34 a.m. Thursday.

Police say a grey SUV driven by a 19-year-old man from Norfolk County was travelling southbound on Norfolk County Road 23, when he crossed over into the northbound lanes colliding head-on with a pickup truck being operated by a 52-year-old Norfolk County man.

As a result of the collision, both drivers suffered serious life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the SUV was air lifted to a London area hospital and the driver of the pickup truck was transported by Paramedics to a Tillsonburg area hospital and then air lifted to a London area hospital for treatment.

Traffic collision investigators are assisting with the investigation.

Norfolk County Road 23 is currently closed between Norfolk County Road 21 and Glen Meyer Road and Middleton Walsingham Townline Road.

It is anticipated that the road closure will remain in effect for several hours to allow for police investigation.
