London fire crews were called to a house fire in the Hamilton Road and Highbury Avenue area on Monday afternoon.
A fire at a residence on Elgin Street around 2:30 p.m. caused significant damage to the front end of the home.
Fortunately, a quick-thinking passerby was able to rescue two dogs from the burning home using a back door.
Tony LaViolette says "We were searching for the dogs, it was super cloudy smoke and it tasted like plastic and we seen two little pitbulls sitting in there and picked them up and ran them out of the house."
No one else was home when the fire started, but one resident was very relieved to be reunited with her Jack Russell Terrier mixes, Tiggy and Elvis.
Samantha-White Borges says "I saw smoke coming from the street and I had a bad feeling and I thought, I hope my house is not on fire. And I came down the street and sure enough, my house was lit on fire and I ran down here freaking out because I knew the dogs were in there and this guy, thank God, was saving them."
An investigation into the cause of the blaze continues.
