Huron OPP say two males have been charged in connection with several instances of offensive graffiti found in Goderich.

Police say a Town of Goderich employee found "vulgar and obscene messages" on the walls of the Rotary Cove Wheelhouse and stairs leading from there up to Lakeside Drive on Sunday morning.

In late June, police were notified of racist and homophobic graffiti on buildings on Suncoast Drive and Huron Road.

With help from the public, police say an investigation has led to the identification of two suspects.

Late Sunday, 19-year-old Jaiden Clark-McKnight of Goderich was arrested in a woodlot east of Goderich. Police say he was carrying two pellet guns.

He has been charged with:

  • mischief over $5,000
  • four counts of mischief under $5,000
  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • carrying a concealed weapon

He was being held in custody pending a video court appearance on Tuesday.

A 14-year-old male from Central Huron was arrested Monday morning and has also been charged.

He is facing four counts of mischief under $5,000 and one count of mischief over $5,000.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Youth Justice Court in Goderich in August.
