A North Middlesex man has been charged with driving over the legal limit following a traffic stop in Chatham-Kent.

According to Chatham-Kent OPP, a Ford pickup truck was stopped by police on eastbound Highway 401 near Kennesserie Road on Dec. 13 just after 1 p.m.

While speaking with the driver, officers allege he had consumed alcoholic beverages. Police say tests indicate the driver was over the legal limit.

OPP have charged 35-year-old Daniel Cormier from North Middlesex with driving over the legal limit, speeding and failing to surrender licence.

Cormier will appear in a Chatham Court on Jan. 3.
