A traffic stop in Talbotville has led to the arrest of three males by Elgin County OPP and the recovery of a stolen truck.

Police say an officer stopped a red Chevy pickup around 9:30 a.m. Thursday on Sunset Road for a traffic violation, but when the vehicle pulled into a private driveway the driver fled on foot toward the back of the home.

Two other males in the vehicle remaind inside and were taken into custody after an investigation revealed the truck and plates had been stolen from a London business overnight.

The OPP's Emergency Response Team and the St. Thomas police K9 Unit were called in to assist and as a result police found an insecure residence nearby where the suspect was hiding in the attic.

He was arrested without incident around 11:45 a.m.

Elgin County OPP Insp. Brad Fishleigh said in a statement that he is very grateful for the excellent relationship provincial police share with the St. Thomas Police Service.

"When necessary the ability to utilize resources between services certainly enhances public safety throughout the communities we police. I am pleased that this incident has been brought to a successful resolution with three people in custody, no injuries and several charges pending. All in all it was a job well done by all the involved officers."
