Charges have been laid after a traffic stop in Talbotville led to the discovery of a stolen vehicle and a police search for a suspect that fled the scene.

Three men were arrested Thursday morning and remain in custody after the vehicle they were in was stopped for a traffic violation and found to be stolen.

The driver of the vehicle who initially fled the scene and was found hiding in the attic of a nearby home, Lee Collins, 31, has been charged with:

  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • four counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • possession of break in instruments
  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • driving while under suspension
  • two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • unlawfully in a dwelling house

The passengers in the vehicle, David Michael Morley, 45, and Ronald Kyle Towle, 31, have been charged with:

  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • four counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • possession of break in instruments
  • possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking

Towle is facing an additional charge of failing to comply with a probation order.

The three men are currently in custody awaiting bail hearings at St.Thomas Criminal Court.
