Three people were transported to hospital following a two-vehicle crash at Highbury Avenue and Medway Road on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the scene north of London around 2 p.m.

OPP say a black SUV was northbound on Highbury Avenue when it collided with red car that was westbound on Medway Road.

The red car was then pushed into a traffic signal pole.

A London woman in the red car was trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters. She was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The two women in the black SUV were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both women are from St. Catharines, Ont.

Middlesex County OPP say an independent witness tells them it appeared the black SUV ran a red light before colliding with red car.

The driver of the SUV, Mary Stacey, 67, has been charged with failing to stop for a red light.

The intersection reopened to traffic shortly after 4 p.m.
