As summer vacation winds down thousands of students are converging on the Forest City getting ready to call London their new home.

Over 5000 first year students alone are moving into residences across Western's campus this weekend.

"We have student volunteers to make this happen. It's a lot of fun but a lot of pressure as well," says Residence Manager Josh McLinton.

Student volunteers are doing everything from greeting newcomers to even moving all their belongings in an effort to make the transition a happy one.

It was a long drive from Ottawa for the Smiley family, as they are dropping off their son Brandon.

"I am emotional but I am very happy for him, we are alumni as well at Western so it is great to be back and see him off it's exciting," says mother Anne-Marie Smiley.

"I'm excited, anxious. It's going to be a good time, yeah!" says Brandon.

At Fanshawe College, close to 1200 students are starting off their post secondary career.

The student move in excitement continues at both schools tomorrow
