A brazen overnight robbery in Lambeth has a couple stunned.

"We opened the door and my wife noticed our mailbox was gone," says John Sousa.

The Sousas woke up to the quite the surprise Friday morning as their antique stand up mailbox had been taken sometime during the night.

It's an item that has more sentimental value than anything else.

"We've had it about 10 years. Connie's grandmother bought it for her, because let her rest in peace. But she thought we still got home delivery. I thought it was cute. We still use it for flyers or personal mail. It was nice to have," he adds.

Security cameras caught the theft of the heavy and unique item.

At 12:54 a.m. an older woman is seen standing at the end of the Sousas' driveway when something seems to catch her eye.

She moves in for a closer look and is off camera for roughly 10 seconds before she is seen leaving the driveway again.

A short time later, she re-emerges wearing a hood and is joined by a second person.

Within 10 seconds the pair are seen carrying the mailbox off of the Sousas' property.

A minute and a half after that a car pulls up and stops briefly before pulling away.

Watching the video has left the Sousas with a sickening feeling.

"We're disgusted with what happened. I can't believe people would do this. You see the video footage. It's an older woman, it's like my grandmother!" he exclaims.

Police responded to the Sousas' call but there's no word on whether there is an investigation into the theft.
