A 16-year-old boy has succumbed to his injuries he suffered following a single vehicle crash west of London.

Middlesex OPP say officers were called to Coldstream Road between Gold Creek Drive and Lamont Drive around 4:23 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

A white Subaru travelling northwest on Coldstream had struck a tree, ejecting the teen driver. The car then caught fire.

He was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Cameron Ferguson, 16, of Middlesex Centre.

On Tuesday, Medway High School --where Cameron was a student -- issued a statement.

"The Medway High School community is profoundly saddened by the passing of Grade 11 student Cameron Ferguson in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday.

The Thames Valley District School Board Tragic Events Response Team is at the school today to offer support to students and staff, and the school flag stands at half staff to honour Cameron and his family.

Principal Jim Copeland says Cameron was a strong academic student, who was also involved in track and field and rugby at Medway.

Cameron was remembered by his classmates as someone who not only loved playing video games with his friends, but loved the outdoors and was always positive, happy, and knew how to make people smile ñ the kind of young person who always did the "right thing.”
