A 19-year-old man has drowned while swimming with friends in Lake Erie at Long Point Provincial Park.

Emergency crews were called to the park around 4:15 Saturday afternoon after a report that one of three friends swimming in Outer Bay had gone missing.

The Canadian Coast Guard searched the area, including using a Hercules aircraft, but had to suspend the search because of poor weather conditions.

About 7:15 in the evening two males walking along the beach discovered the young man in the water and pulled him to shore. Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was attempted but was unsuccessful.

The victim has been identified Hussein Da Silva of Hamilton.
