A 17-year-old male has been charged in connection with damage to the Catholic Central Secondary School mascot.
The London teen, who is not a student at Catholic Central, was charged with mischief on Monday.
Police say the hand-painted, wood-carved mascot for the school was damaged around 4:30 a.m. on July 6.
The shield part of a statue of the Crusader, located in front of the school on the northeast corner of Dundas Street and Colborne Street, was broken off.
The Secondary School Resource Officer assigned to the school conducted the investigation and identified the individual responsible for the damage.
Due to the cost - the artist quoted over $8,000 to repair or replace the shield - the school will not be repairing the carving.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court in November.
