Two people are dead as members of the OPP investigate an incident at a home south of Thamesford.

The nature of the incident has not been confirmed. According to Oxford County OPP, the call came in around 9:10 a.m.

Police say one person was found dead at the scene with obvious signs of trauma and a second person died later in hospital.

The deaths are being treated as suspicious, say OPP, but the public has no reason to be concerned.

"We believe this incident is isolated to this residence at this time. So the public safety concerns are contained," says Const. Stacey Culbert.

The incident happened on Line 19, just west of Line 25 in Zorra Township. People in the area say the elderly couple who lived in that house were John and Meis Kraayenbrink. They say the husband had been in declining health.

"It's a huge shock for sure. I had just seen him earlier in the spring, he was over to visit me," a neighbour said.

"He was doing OK, but his daughter told me that her dad had failed in the last little while. He kind of went downhill. They had been in the house pretty much all winter. They didn't go anywhere; they didn't want to get sick."
