Suspected human remains located in London
LONDON, ONT. -- The London Police Service's Major Crimes Unit spent the day Monday in the area of Jacqueline and Ada streets after suspected human remains were located in a wooded area on Sunday.
Officers remained at the scene, southeast of the downtown core in the Chelsea Green neighbourhood, still searching for evidence.
London police Const. Sandasha Bough says, "We do have a number of officers on scene. We're searching the area, we're canvassing for witnesses."
But she added, “We can say that there's nothing to indicate a threat to public safety at this time.”
A post mortem is expected on Tuesday and after that is completed London police expect to release more information.
"Given the condition of the remains, we're hopeful that the post-mortem examination will shed light on the circumstances which lead to the death," Bough adds.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
