London police say a student at Sir George Cartier Public School was allegedly assaulted on school grounds by a masked male on Thursday morning.

The 12-year-old girl involved was not injured in the incident.

Officers were called to the school on Chiddington Avenue around 11:30 a.m. following a report of an assault.

The school was put on lockdown temporarily, but that order was soon been lifted.

Karen Dalton of the Thames Valley District School Board says “We went into a code red. When the police came, as we always do, we turned it over to the police”

Police continued to control access to the school for hours after the incident and parents who were picking up students were asked to use the front door.

London police Const. Chris Stumpf says “Our forensics identification team is here trying to gather any evidence that may assist in this investigation”

The male suspect is described as being 5’2” tall with brown eyes and wearing black cargo pants, tall black boots, black gloves and a grey sweater.

He was last seen running eastbound from the school towards Wellington Road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
