St. Thomas police say a store clerk was stabbed several times in the face and chest area during a convenience store robbery.

Police say it happened on Wednesday at 10:02 p.m.

A man armed with a knife entered Moe’s Variety located at 808 Talbot Street in the St. Thomas. According to police, the man demanded money from the store clerk and an altercation ensued.

The store clerk suffered stab wounds to the face and chest area and was transported to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital and eventually to taken to Victoria Hospital in London with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’9”, with a slim build. He was wearing dark-coloured pants, a black-hooded sweater with a red bandanna across his face and black shoes. He also had a light-coloured pillow case.

Police are looking to identify a potential witness who was inside the store just prior to the robbery and left in a white Ford Escape.
