London firefighters battled a blaze Sunday afternoon and into the evening, at a site where several storage utility trailers filled with scrap caught fire in the area of Cabell Street and Roberts Avenue.

The scene of the fire was in behind London Salvage and Trading on Egerton Street, near a disposal centre. Egerton was closed due to smoke in the area, which was heavy.

The blaze broke out around 4 p.m., forcing rail traffic in the area to be suspended.

The cause of the fire was not known, but the Ministry of Environment was notified.

No injuries were reported.
