The condition of the victim in a stabbing on Riverside Drive has been downgraded to serious.

Police say the 29-year-old London man was assaulted around midnight on Tuesday and sustained multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but has since improved.

Police say as many as nine people may have been involved in the assault, and it is not believed to have been a random attack.

So far two suspect descriptions have been made available.

The first suspect is described as a heavy-set male, about 5'6" tall, possiblly Hispanic, wearing shorts.

A second suspect is described as a black male, 30-35 years old with a thin goatee, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and pants.

They were last seen heading west on foot from 117 Riverside Dr.
