A dispute between neighbours at a housing complex on Joyce Street in St. Thomas has led to several charges against a 43-year-old male.

Police said the man broke into an apartment and assaulted the resident around 10 p.m. Saturday night.

The victim was defending himself and forced the man outside of the aparment. That’s when the suspect went to his own apartment and grabbed a knife, threatening the resident with death, police said.

"Allegedly, he grabbed a knife and was standing in the common area and was uttering death threats while holding a knife," said St. Thomas Police Sgt. Jeremy Lapadat.

He was taken to the police station where police said he tried to punch an officer.

The man is facing charges of assault, being unlawfully in a dwelling house, uttering death threats, weapons dangerous, assaulting police and three counts of breach of probation.
