A 43-year-old Central Elgin man has been arrested after a month-long undercover investigation into reports of a man committing lewd acts in St. Thomas.

Police say parents and children had complained about a man in a white panel van committing indecent acts while following school buses or parked on the side of the road watching young children.

As police investigated, the suspect was observed following school buses and watching children in St Thomas and Elgin County.

On Thursday, plainclothes officers pulled the man over in front of a south end school and found he was committing an indecent act.

Paul Baker was arrested at the scene and has been charged with several counts of committing an indecent act. He is being held in custody.

Baker is known to travel throughout southwestern Ontario and police are asking anyone with information on him or the white van to contact them at 519-631-1224 Ext. 136 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
