A spike belt had to be deployed by Chatham-Kent OPP to stop a man evading police.

Officers responded to a suspicious persons call at the Highway 401 westbound service centre near Tilbury Thursday. Upon arrival, officers say the male left the service centre in a black Dodge vehicle westbound on the 401.

Police say officers followed the man and attempted a traffic stop, but the man failed to pull over. At this point, OPP says a spike belt was deployed in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued driving until officers executed a boxing maneuver.

No injuries are reporter.
