A snow squall warning remains in place this morning for Huron-Perth and Grey-Bruce, where OPP have closed roads due to hazardous driving conditions.
Some roadways remain closed, but others have been reopened by OPP. For the latest information on road closures follow the OPP West Region on twitter. The most recent closure has been Highway 21 between Port Elgin and Blyth Road. Lucknow Line is also closed between Lucknow and Blyth Road.
In Woodstock, highway 401 was closed for several hours overnight due to a collision between Foldens Line and Mill Street. The highway has since reopened. OPP have not said if the collision was weather related.
Environment Canada says under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate.
While accumulations are expected to be in the 5 to 10 centimeter range, the greater threat will be the strong gusty westerly winds which will cause extensive blowing snow and potential whiteout conditions.
Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero.
