The province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate, following a domestic incident in Thamesford.

At 4:26 Friday monring, Oxford OPP were called to 5 Middleton Street in Thamesford for a domestic disturbance.

According to police, the man sustained self-inflicted life threatening injuries while dealing with officers.

Police did not sustain any injuries.

Officers immediately administered first aid and called an ambulance.

The man was transported to a London hospital. 

The SIU invokes its mandate when police officers are involved in incidents where someone has been seriously hurt or dies.
