Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is looking into an incident in Tillsonburg where a cyclist was sent to hospital after a police chase.

Oxford County OPP officers attempted to stop a male cyclist on Broadway Street around 8:30 p.m. on Monday. Police say he was riding all over the road.

The cyclist failed to stop for police and fled into a residence driveway crashing his bike and fleeing on foot, according to police.

Officers ran after the suspect. Police say the suspect and an officer both fell over a low lying fence in the back yard of a residence. The suspect was arrested for failing to identify to police and taken into custody.

The male suspect was later transferred to a Tillsonburg hospital and then to a London Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
