SIU clears London police after body found last May
The province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has cleared London Police officers of any wrongdoing in connection with the death of an 18-year-old man last May.
The man's body was found in a park last May.
The man told his girlfriend he planned to harm himself on May 30th at 9 p.m.
Police were contacted and his body was located a few hours later in a park at Westminster Ponds at Southdale Road East and Adelaide Street South.
Emergency crews attempted to revive the man but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The cause of death was ruled as hanging.
“On the facts, there is no evidence that any police officer had contact with the man when he was alive or in any way contributed to his death. The numerous officers and other first responders who worked to save the man performed their duties with professionalism and care. No charges shall be laid against any officer in connection with this tragic incident,” says SIU Director Tony Loparco in a news release.
