Police are investigating after a sawed-off shotgun was found on the grounds of Knollwood Park Public School on Wednesday.

Investigators say the school principal located the sawed-off double barrel shotgun on school property shortly after noon and contacted police, who attended and seized the firearm.

Students at the Gammage Street school were in class at the time.

Officers are looking into the possibility that the firearm is related to an investigation into an attempted robbery on the weekend.

Around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday two males reportedly went to a home on nearby Apeldoorn Crescent with a firearm and demanded money.

Police say the occupant ran from the residence and the suspects, described as young males wearing dark clothing, fled on foot.

Nothing was taken and no injuries were sustained in the incident.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
