A collision involving three vehicles closed on Perth Line 86 east of Listowel for much of the day Wednesday.

Perth County OPP say around 10:30 a.m. a westbound Pontiac Montana minivan was trying to pass a transport truck when it made contact with the trailer causing the van to lose control.

The van reportedly veered onto the north gravel shoulder, then spun across both lanes of Perth Line 86 where it was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet Malibu, which caused the van to roll and land on its driver's side.

The North Perth Fire Department was called on to extricate the 21-year-old female driver of the Montana and the 79-year-old male passenger of the Malibu.

The woman, from Waterloo, and the man, from Tiverton, were transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Malibu, a 67-year-old Tiverton man sustained minimal injuries while the driver of the tractor trailer, a 58-year-old man from Cambridge was uninjured.

Perth Line 86 was expected to remain closed until approximately 4:30 p.m. Wednesday as the OPP Traffic Collision Investigation Unit completed its investigation.
